KILLOWEN 1995

KILLOWEN mar 1995 TEAM OF THE MONTH:

Killowen are the Murphy's Stout AUL Team of the Month for

February, a month when they retained their position at the top of

AUL One.

The team, whose last defeat was back in October against Hill

Celtic, is well balanced, according to chairperson Declan

Cassidy: "We are scoring goals, we got six against Leeds in a

challenge last Sunday, we are top of our league and still in four

cup competitions. We haven't conceded a goal since the start of

November."

Cassidy fronts a four man committee whose other members are Owen

Braun (secretary), John Murphy (Treasurer), and Michael Lucey

(PRO). Sean Dilworth is probably the best known of the Killowen

players. He was the terror of defences for years but has now

turned his hand to defence.

Sean was one of the founders of the club back in 1977 and others

involved at the time included Derry Mullins, Mick O'Sullivan

(still in the team), Kieran Mullins, Tim and Paddy Doyle, Teddy

and Mick Dilworth.

In 1986, they were runners up to neighbours Waterloo in the

County Cup. They took their first trophy a year later when they

won the President's Cup. In 1992, they were champions in 2A and

a year later took the title in 1A.
