PASSAGE 1994

PASSAGE YOUTHS DOUBLE:

John Carroll scored an incredible 37 goals as he helped Passage

youths to a splendid double in second division football. Under

the guidance of manager Paddy Carroll and his assistant Finbarr

Burke, the harbourside colts won the Second Division Cup and the

title in AUL Division Two.

The league campaign eventually boiled down to a thrilling finish

between Passage and Everton. Passage, who had played second

fiddle to the city side in two previous meetings, came good when

it mattered and won the final crucial contest by 2 - 1. David

O'Neill got the equaliser and that man Carroll supplied the 84th

minute winner.

The Cup final against a fine Macroom side was a thriller all the

way with good quality goals and then brilliant penalty taking in

the 28 kick shootout.

Gordon O'Riordan put Passage in front. Back came Macroom to lead

2 - 1 only for Pat Mehigan's strike to bring the match to extra

time and eventually to that dramatic shootout. Passage missed

just one spotter, unlucky Macroom just one more.
